The European Green Deal states that "energy storage and carbon capture, storage and utilization” is one of the priority areas to reduce greenhouse gas emissions of 55 % by 2030 and to become carbon neutral by 2050.

The project has received funding from the European Partnership on Metrology, co-financed by European Union Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme and from the Participating States.

METCCUS Participated in the IEAGHG Workshop

The International Energy Agency Greenhouse Gas R&D Programme (IEAGHG) has just released the publication of its workshop on comparative techno-economic assessment of commercially available CO2 conditioning technologies which took place in February 2024.

Iris de Krom from VSL – National Metrology Institute participated in the event and showcased the project. In her presentation she pointed out the measurement challenges tackled by MetCCUS, highlighting that the project is pioneering both online and offline measurement methods, which are critical for CO2 composition measurement. Iris also emphasised the instrumental role of the project in establishing a comprehensive framework for the safe and efficient functioning of CCUS technologies.

You can learn more about the coordinator’s intervention on page 6 of the report: “Metrological analysis of impurity levels in CO2 captured”
