The European Green Deal states that "energy storage and carbon capture, storage and utilization” is one of the priority areas to reduce greenhouse gas emissions of 55 % by 2030 and to become carbon neutral by 2050.

The project has received funding from the European Partnership on Metrology, co-financed by European Union Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme and from the Participating States.

MetCCUS at the EMN for Energy Gases Online Workshop

On October 31st the MetCCUS project was presented in the European Metrology Network for Energy Gases Workshop which was held online by EURAMET – The European Association of National Metrology Institutes.

The key objective of the workshop was to give prominence to the innovative research projects and initiatives the network is undertaking to address the emerging fundamental metrology challenges and establish renewable gases as the sustainable fuel source and energy vector of tomorrow.

With CCUS comprising one of the main subjects of the workshop, our project partner Iris de Krom from VSL participated giving an overview of the MetCCUS project. During her presentation, Iris highlighted the project’s significant contribution on developing the suitable metrology standards to help Europe reach carbon neutrality.

Among others, the workshop agenda included an introductory session of EMN for Energy Gases mission, current work, and future goals, industry presentations with stakeholders sharing their perceptions on the green transition based on the present R&D work and discussion topics on the upcoming call for proposals on regulatory frameworks and the future requirements and developments for renewable gases.
