The European Green Deal states that "energy storage and carbon capture, storage and utilization” is one of the priority areas to reduce greenhouse gas emissions of 55 % by 2030 and to become carbon neutral by 2050.

The project has received funding from the European Partnership on Metrology, co-financed by European Union Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme and from the Participating States.

Report A4.1.1: Protocol for the preparation of binary mixture of amine and CO2

The WP4 on Understanding the physical properties of CO2 to support CCUS industrial infrastructure has finalised a survey on establishing a protocol for the preparation of two types of binary mixtures composed of CO2+monoethanolamine and CO2+diethanolamine.

The report provides currently unavailable experimental measurements of the thermophysical properties of CO2 mixtures which will be needed to implement the empirical models developed in Task 4.2. UVa and INRIM will measure the density and the speed of sound respectively of CO2 + monoethanolamine between 30 °C and 140 °C and for pressures up to 12 MPa at the 3 different concentrations. The accuracy of the sample preparation will be determined in a comparison of the density measurements obtained by the two institutes at (40 and 120) °C at ambient pressure.
